New Puppy Info...

Congratulations, you have certainly chosen a wonderful puppy! I have jotted a few things down that might or might not help you. We will be feeding your puppy Purina Pro Plan Focus Puppy Food. This food can be found at most major Pet Stores and some vet clinics and I sincerely feel that it is one of the best on the market as it is nutritionally efficient, a complete food, and leaves very little odor in the droppings. I would offer food a minimum of three times a day, preferably four. If you do decide to make a change in your puppy food, please change gradually so that his/her system can adjust. If you do make a change, it works well to add ¼ of his new food for two days, the ½ for two days, then ¾ for two days, and then completely change to his new food. On picking a new food this is definitely a time to buy name brands. (Purina puppy chow or Pedigree). It is scary what some generic companies want to feed your puppy.

Be sure to revaccinate and keep up regular worming! This puppy has not been started on heartworm medication. Please check with your vet and follow his recommendations on your vaccination schedule. Also have Vet advise you as to when the very necessary Rabies vaccination should be given.

This is a very important time in your puppys life for bonding. Play with and give lots of love and attention. Besides being good for the puppy, it's enjoyable and fun for all of us! Your puppy has had no discipline, nor has he had any leash training. For potty training, consistency is the key, always taking him out as soon as you wake him. Use the same tone of voice and the same words every time. Be patient! When you bathe your puppy, be sure to go slowly and gently, use a good quality shampoo, rinse thoroughly, and most important of all dry thoroughly. ***DO NOT GET WATER IN THEIR EARS unless you want to make a trip to the vet for an ear infection, which takes less than 24hrs to become inflamed*** Our vet recommended we use Vet Solutions Ear Cleansing Solution prior to bathing and it has worked out beautifully for us. (and much cheaper than a vet visti!)  Please do not bathe your puppy too often as it can dry their skin and coat. We wish you lots of happy times, special moments and a truly loving companionship with your new little furbaby family member.

Thank you again for choosing one of our puppies to be a part of your family!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about your new baby!
